Where the Mercury person's knowledge is a fast but unfiltered mix of right and wrong, the Jupiter person absorbs that raw information, tests it through practice, and refines it into solid, confirmed scholarship — learning more slowly but far more thoroughly. That settled knowledge then nourishes the Mars person, who has strong action power but rarely extracts reusable methods from experience; Jupiter's scholarship helps Mars become progressively more efficient.

Wood is rhythm and regularity, a state in which things connect continuously from top to bottom — and in that sense, it is exactly like a book.

Every Jupiter person is a book.

They deeply value reason and self-growth. So even when the studying and thinking is hard right now, the moment of sudden clarity — when everything clicks into place — fills them with such complete happiness that it dissolves all the struggle that came before.

This is why the Jupiter person can bear great pressure: they are always looking toward the future.

For the same reason, the Jupiter person is wary of being too heavily relied upon — because they will carry the other person forward anyway, and even feel glad about it, even feel that this is how things should be, that this is an opportunity for growth. And so the Jupiter person is nearly always joyful, because they are always looking toward the future.

Wood is a continual absorption of what is positive and beneficial to the self — a passive reception of what feels comfortable and nourishing — and through this absorption human nature is developed. After taking in beneficial energy, Wood then breaks through difficulty.

The Jupiter person's scholarship and the Mercury person's knowledge are not the same thing.

The Jupiter person's scholarship consists of effective, confirmed information; the Mercury person's knowledge tends to be a mix of right and wrong. The Jupiter person takes in the Mercury person's mixed raw information, tests it against practice and reality, and edits it into a book — settled, verified, reliable.

So in learning, the Jupiter person is slower than the Mercury person; but they learn thoroughly, and the understanding they reach in the end is complete.

And that solid, correct scholarship nourishes the Mars person: the Mars person has tremendous action power, but after finishing one thing they do not easily extract the underlying method, so after several years their efficiency has not risen. The Jupiter person's scholarship is precisely what allows the Mars person to keep improving.
